An ettercap is an arboreal creature which appears to live and hunt alone. This creature has apparently evolved from an arachnid base. It still possesses the ability to adhere to surfaces and can support somewhat in excess of its own body weight in this manner. It also has the ability to spin webs, and does not stick to its own webbing.
The ettercap hunts alone and lives alone, although several can usually be found in a small area. Its preferred method of hunting is to leave traps at ground level, ranging from lassos to crude nets to web-lined pits.
The ettercap's web is nearly odor-less, but the hairy creatures themselves can seldom say the same thing.
An ettercap is an eight-legged creature, approximately two feet in length. Its body is covered in coarse black or brown hair. It has several eyes, spread out in the forward third of its head.
Ettercaps are very venomous. The venom is a neurotoxin that paralyzes within a minute and eventually stops the heart within about 10 minutes. Fast acting, though it is rumored that the victin stays conscious till the heart stops.
