Taurs Among Us

[FwD Homepage]

Several days have passed since the lunar shipyards acquired a new resident, days of learning and adjustment. Long sessions in the language teaching machines have given Wolfsinger a working command of the ancient language that the computer systems use, as well as making his life a little easier when flying, as there is less guesswork in the neural linkup. When not helping Wolfsinger get settled, Zilvar has spent a great deal of time trying to ready the base for the upcoming arrival of his felitaur workers and engineers.

Zilvar checks the time on his control console and looks over at the other wolf, "They should be showing up soon. Then things will get moving."

WolfSinger barks, "oh boy... company's coming! How many?"

Zilvar halfsmiles, "About a hundred in the first ship."

WolfSinger barks, "oh, boy.... got their quarters all set up?"

Zilvar nods. "Most of them. I finally got the automated systems working, so most of the rooms are ready. They will have to bunk a little extra for a couple days."

WolfSinger barks, "knowing the, then probably won't mind.... ::snicker::"

Zilvar turns to look at the console when a light starts flashing. "Mmm..no. Most probably not. They sleep in piles of bodies."

WolfSinger barks, "hey.... there's nothing wrong with snuggle piles... especially in winter."

Zilvar punches up a flightpath. "Looks like they are here...I imagine you will not have too much trouble finding a comfortable pile to sleep with shortly."

WolfSinger barks, "who... me? ::his ears flush red:: actually, I'd prefer a nice she-wuf... but they seem to be lacking around here."

Zilvar looks up and halfsmiles, "Well...Just be careful what you say around them."

WolfSinger barks, "hey!! I'm always nice! ::snicker::"

Zilvar flips on a few viewscreens so that he can watch the felitaur transport land, "That is why I said be careful. They may get personal at some comment."

WolfSinger's tail swishes as he watches the screen, too. "shall we get out the band for their arrival?" he teases.

Zilvar nods, "Not in person. Not yet. I want to speak with them in smaller groups, to make sure I don't have any obvious troublemakers in the bunch." He punches up another menu, and a recorded message starts to play over the bay loudspeakers, instructing the 'taurs to follow a flashing series of arrows to lodging and food.

WolfSinger barks, "hope you got the kitchen stocked up."

Zilvar turns away from the console. "That is one reason I did not want the transports to come in all at once. It will be easier to interview them."

Zilvar chuckles softly, "Yes..I do. One of my first purchases when I got the loan."

WolfSinger barks, "well, all the 'taurs I've met so far are real nice."

Zilvar shrugs, "I have seen at least one with too many hormones.

Zilvar looks back at the screen to see how the unloading is progressing, "These do not appear to be too excitable at the moment, though. Gets my hopes up."

WolfSinger barks, "I kinda think they all have too many hormones.... you should see some of the statues in the tower. ::BLUSH::"

Zilvar's eyebrows arch, "Wolfsinger...I stayed with Copernicus' family for a few days. Believe me...I have a good notion of how many hormones they have..."

WolfSinger chuckles!

Zilvar halfsmiles, "True. Run down to the landing bay and make sure that the shuttle is secured. Then tell the computer to flight prep it. The shuttle pilots will probably want to leave shortly.

WolfSinger nods. "okay." He pads of toward the landing bay.

Zilvar turns back to the console and watches the procession of taurs as they move into their quarters.
